Caroline Vas Nominated for Recovery Coach of the Year

We are thrilled to share that our very own, Caroline Vas, MSW, LSW, was nominated for Recovery Coach of the Year for the 2022 Heroes for Recovery Award by Mental Health America of Indiana. Heroes for Recovery is Mental Health America of Indiana’s program that celebrates those that promote recovery of individuals in their treatment of mental illness and addictive disorders.

Caroline joined the Hope Academy team in January of 2021 as the Guiding Paths to Success Coordinator where she made a significant impact on our students through the recovery and wellness program. As the GPS Coordinator, Caroline oversees the after school and summer activities for students at Hope Academy. But more than just organizing outings, Caroline’s efforts are a direct correlation to the student engagement with the program. GPS is encouraged but not required. Even so, more than half of the students have become involved, largely thanks to Caroline’s planning, communication and creativity.

Recently, Caroline was promoted to Recovery Coordinator, and is now responsible for the school’s recovery and wellness curriculum, the recovery coaching program and supervision for the staff and all recovery-related events
for students and their families. Hope Academy’s lifeblood is the recovery team, as they provide the critical supports to students with substance use disorder. At the helm of this team is Caroline. Because of her leadership, students are more engaged in their recovery program, allowing them to have success in their sobriety and academics.

We are so grateful to have Caroline as part of the Hope Academy Team. Congrats Caroline!
