Recovery

Recovery at Hope Academy

At Hope Academy, recovery is woven into every aspect of our school culture. We are Indiana’s only recovery high school, uniquely designed to support teens in early recovery from substance use disorders while helping them pursue their education in a safe, supportive environment.

Recovery Coaching

Each student at Hope Academy is paired with a dedicated recovery coach. Our coaches walk alongside students as they navigate the highs and lows of early recovery—offering encouragement, accountability, and real-world tools to support lasting change. Whether a student is new to sobriety or working toward long-term wellness, recovery coaching provides personalized guidance rooted in lived experience and clinical insight.

Small Group Recovery

Recovery happens in connection and community. That’s why students participate in small group recovery sessions that create space for honest reflection, peer connection, and skill-building. These facilitated groups help students explore topics like relapse prevention, identity, motivation, boundaries, and emotional regulation—all while fostering community and trust among peers.

Recovery & Wellness

At Hope Academy, recovery is about more than avoiding substances—it’s about building a healthy, fulfilling life. That’s why our programming emphasizes total wellness: mind, body, and spirit.

Students engage in a wide range of wellness opportunities designed to build confidence, relieve stress, and support long-term recovery. These include:

  • Basketball and recreational sports through our recovery-friendly intramural league
  • Access to our onsite workout facility, made possible by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
  • A physical education elective, focused on movement and mental health
  • Hands-on opportunities to explore nutrition, sleep hygiene, and other healthy routines
  • Sober, fun activities through our Guiding Paths to Success (GPS) program
  • Mindfulness tools like journaling, art, yoga, and meditation

By experiencing wellness in many forms, students learn to care for themselves, reconnect with joy, and create new habits that support their recovery journey—long after high school.
