On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Hope Academy was recognized at the Indiana Statehouse with a Senate resolution honoring 20 years of recovery-centered education.
The resolution acknowledged Hope Academy’s role as Indiana’s only recovery high school and its longstanding impact on students, families, and communities across the state. Since opening its doors in 2006, the school has provided a safe, sober, and supportive learning environment where students can pursue their recovery while completing their high school education.
The resolution was sponsored by Senator Cyndi Carrasco, who spoke during the presentation about why Hope Academy was founded and the need it continues to meet today. Her remarks highlighted the importance of recovery-focused education as part of a broader system of support for teens navigating substance use challenges.
In the weeks following the presentation, the resolution was also adopted by the Indiana House of Representatives, extending the recognition across both chambers of the Indiana General Assembly.
The moment was especially meaningful because it was shared by members of the Hope Academy community. Seniors, alumni, board members, and staff were present at the Statehouse to witness the recognition together — a reflection of the many people who have shaped and supported the school over the past two decades.
The resolution reflects the bipartisan support and public trust that have sustained Hope Academy’s work for 20 years. It also affirms the role recovery high schools play in helping young people stay engaged in education while building a strong foundation for recovery.
As Hope Academy marks this milestone year, the resolution becomes part of the school’s history — recognizing how far the community has come and the continued commitment to students and families across Indiana.
